Chapter 813 - Jia Gui Got Beaten Up
Chapter 813 - Jia Gui Got Beaten Up
“What happened?” Han Wu asked, stopping the Heavenrender Epistian, simultaneously channeling his Life Aspect to heal Jia Gui’s injuries.
The Epistian looked uncomfortable, but aware of Han Wu’s status, explained the situation after only a brief moment of hesitation.
The short version was that Jia Gui had gone out on patrol and encountered an advancing Slaughter Faction army. Spotting Wei En among their ranks, he immediately berated her, rattling off insults like “ingrate” and “betrayer” without missing a beat. Then, for good measure, he also announced that he had once touched Wei En’s body and seen her completely naked.
Wei En was furious. Fortunately, as the founder of the Saintess Club, her ability to spin a narrative was unmatched, and in just a few sentences, she turned the story around. Suddenly, it was Jia Gui who had used his authority to coerce her, and the entire Wisdom Faction was being dragged along with it.
The musclehead students from Warfare College fell for it entirely. They transformed into knights of justice and charged at Jia Gui to avenge Wei En.
Even five of them would have still been manageable, but more than fifty students had surged at him, all convinced they were doing the right thing. Terrified, Jia Gui fled, but his abilities were still sealed with the Magic Sealing Wave, and the power of a World life form hadn’t been enough to escape.
The students had thus run him down and pummeled him. If not for his physical strength and natural recovery, plus reinforcements from the Wisdom Faction, the fifty students could’ve killed Jia Gui.
A mix of anger and amusement stirred within Han Wu. The former was because Wei En had not only defected to the Slaughter Faction but was now smearing the Wisdom Faction’s name, burning every bridge behind her. The latter came from the fact that fifty Warfare College students had managed to beat up Jia Gui, a World life form. That had to be some kind of embarrassing record for World life forms.
With Han Wu’s treatment, Jia Gui recovered quickly and soon came to. Upon seeing Han Wu, his expression took on the look of a man who had found a lifeline.
“Han Wu, you have to back me up on this!” he begged, face wrinkled in misery. “Over fifty Warfare College lecturers teamed up against me. I fought bravely, but alas, two fists can’t beat a hundred hands. Look what they did to me.”
Jia Gui had upgraded the mob of students into lecturers. If Han Wu hadn’t already heard it from the Epistian, he would’ve actually believed that sincere explanation.
“I don’t even know what to say to you. You’ve only gotten worse,” Han Wu said, genuinely disappointed.
Back when he’d recruited Jia Gui for a match against the Divine River Civilization, the man had been useless but at least passable in a fight. Now, he couldn’t even hold off a group of Demigods, and all he had to show for it was an exaggerated explanation. It was truly sad.
That said, Jia Gui was still on the Wisdom Faction’s side. Han Wu wasn’t going to stand by while he got pushed around.
“Wait here. I’ll go report to my mentor first. I’ll come back and deal with this after,” Han Wu said firmly.
At that moment, Han Wu suddenly remembered that the Magic Sealing Wave still sealed Jia Gui’s abilities, so he performed the unsealing technique, the Magic Seal Breaker, to lift the seal.
When Jia Gui felt his abilities and Divine Aspects flooding back, he immediately shouted in joy, “Now if they come after me again, I can actually run away!”
Han Wu was at a loss for words. This guy only ever thought about running.
With that, Han Wu headed into the command room and reported everything from the mission to Xu Hai. He also passed along the news that Jia Gui had spotted Wei En among the Slaughter Faction’s forces.
Xu Hai’s expression darkened. More than ten members of the Saintess Club had followed her out of the Wisdom Faction and into the Slaughter Faction. Moreover, these defectors were actively encouraging other students to leave. Thirteen such incidents had already occurred. If this didn’t stop, it could become a serious problem in the future.
Unfortunately, as a lecturer, Xu Hai wasn’t in a position to act personally. Wei En was a specialist in information warfare. Any opening she could exploit would be turned into an attack on the Wisdom Faction. Who knew how many uninformed students would leave then? The risk simply wasn’t worth it. A student would have to handle Wei En.
Han Wu was the obvious choice.
“Han Wu, I’ll leave the Wei En matter in your hands,” Xu Hai said.
“Leave it to me, Teacher. I’ll make sure she regrets it,” he promised.
After leaving the command room, Han Wu sought out Jia Gui, and the two of them headed back to the ambush site. The area was packed with students from the Slaughter Faction. The Warfare College students were treating the divine war like daily combat drills.
The Imperial College students had strengths in invasions and the nurturing of their own core race, but they were no match for the Warfare College in actual combat. In fact, a number of outposts had already fallen under the combined assault of the Warfare College students.
Seeing this, Han Wu wasted no time. He summoned a swarm of locusts, then released the Wicked Dragon Veritas from the Four Guardians Seal inside his body.
Veritas had spent this time recovering from its injury, though in truth it had been faking continued injury to avoid drawing Han Wu’s attention. Its sudden release brought a wave of panic, as it had no idea what Han Wu had in mind.
Han Wu pointed at the enemies. “Veritas, don’t say I never gave you a chance. Clear out at least eighty percent of the enemy in that area, and I’ll let you go free.”
Veritas couldn’t believe its ears. “Noble Defier, are you serious?”
“I swear on the name of the Defier.”
Veritas immediately came alive. After enduring captivity, it had come to value freedom above all else. It would push its life to the limit for a chance to be free.
“Noble Defier, please enjoy the performance,” Veritas roared, spreading its wings and flying toward the enemy.
Jia Gui watched this unfold in horror. “Han Wu, where did you get another Great Dragon? This one feels like it’s already a World life form. It might even be able to match me!”
Han Wu said nothing. He had long since given up trying to understand Jia Gui’s delusions of grandeur.
